Harvest Goodness Recipes from Stewart Hill Wines

We have spent some time collating our favourite easy red wine recipes for harvest festivals, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and winter snacks. With basic nutritional details, alcohol content, and limited to six ingredients maximum for home, weekday or new cooks’ joy:

1. Red Wine Poached Pears

Great for: Thanksgiving & Winter Cheer
Type: No-Bake Dessert
Alcohol Content: ~1-2% (some alcohol evaporates)

Ingredients:
– 4 pears (peeled)
– 500 ml red wine (1/2 bottle)
– 75 g sugar
– 1 cinnamon stick
– 2 cloves
– Orange zest

Instructions:
1. Bring wine, sugar, and spices to a simmer.
2. Add pears and poach until tender (~25 minutes).
3. Serve with the reduced wine syrup.

Carbs: 23 g
Protein: 0.5 g

2. Mulled Wine

Great for: Harvest Festival & Winter Cheer
Type: Warm Drink
Alcohol Content: ~8-10% (some alcohol evaporates)

Ingredients:
– 750 ml red wine
– 50 g sugar
– 1 cinnamon stick
– 3 cloves
– 1 orange (sliced)
– 1 star anise

Instructions:
1. Heat wine with sugar and spices, but don’t boil.
2. Let it simmer for 20 minutes and serve warm.

Protein: 0 g

3. Red Wine Chocolate Truffles

Great for: Halloween & Winter Cheer
Type: No-Bake Snack
Alcohol Content: ~1% (minimal)

Ingredients:
– 200 g dark chocolate
– 80 ml red wine
– 25 g butter
– 50 g cocoa powder (for coating)

Instructions:
1. Melt chocolate and butter.
2. Stir in red wine, chill until firm.
3. Shape into balls and coat with cocoa powder.

Nutrition (per 100g):
Calories: ~350 kcal
Fat: 28 g
Carbs: 35 g
Protein: 4 g

4. Red Wine & Mushroom Risotto

Great for: Harvest Festival & Thanksgiving
Type: Savory Side
Alcohol Content: ~1-2% (after cooking)

Ingredients:
– 200 g Arborio rice
– 100 ml red wine
– 500 ml vegetable broth
– 200 g mushrooms (sliced)
– 1 onion (chopped)
– 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions:
1. Sauté onion and mushrooms in olive oil.
2. Add rice, cook for 1 minute.
3. Add red wine and cook until absorbed, then gradually add broth until rice is tender.

Calories: ~120 kcal
Fat: 3 g
Carbs: 22 g
Protein: 3 g

5. Beef Stew with Red Wine

Great for: Thanksgiving & Winter Cheer
Type: Main Dish
Alcohol Content: ~1-2% (after cooking)

Ingredients:
– 500 g beef (cubed)
– 200 ml red wine
– 500 ml beef broth
– 3 carrots (sliced)
– 2 potatoes (diced)
– 1 onion (chopped)
– 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions:
1. Brown beef in oil, then set aside.
2. Sauté onion, then add beef, wine, broth, carrots, and potatoes.
3. Simmer for 2 hours until tender.

Calories: ~90 kcal
Fat: 4 g
Carbs: 6 g
Protein: 8 g

6. Red Wine Hot Chocolate

Great for: Halloween & Winter Cheer
Type: Warm Drink
Alcohol Content: ~8-10%

Ingredients:
– 200 ml red wine
– 250 ml milk
– 50 g dark chocolate (chopped)
– 1 tbsp sugar (optional)

Instructions:
1. Heat milk and chocolate, whisk until melted.
2. Stir in red wine and heat until warm.

Nutrition (per 100g):
Calories: ~120 kcal
Fat: 7 g
Carbs: 12 g
Protein: 3 g

Born in London, based in Spain with over 20 years of experience in Marketing and CRM for business development.

Graduate from LSE London with Branding, Sustainability and research qualifications in UK and Spain.

Patricia Harvey

Patricia is a former, credit controller and worked for 15 years for one of the UK’s leading financial handling insurance including freight.

She has always had a passion for wine and have been for the past 4 years worked with us learning the wine trade. Pat recently participated in our exhibition at USATT Chicago.

Her role at Stewart Hill is to handle and develop our logistics.

Lucilda Stewart

Managing Director & Founder

Lucilda is the managing director and founder of Stewart-Hill Wines.  She manages general day to day running of the business, as well as key relationships with both key personnel and a dedicated team of consultants.  Lucilda also travels to overseas destinations to meet with distributors, wholesalers and retailers.  She commends the evolution of her wine journey, to her dedicated team of professionals and strong family ties.  The accolades by the US Wine Ratings 2023, which led to silver awards for their Orchida Negra (Crianza), Malbec labels and a silver award for their Rose by London Wine Competition, demonstrates the integrity of their wines and Lucilda’s indomitable will to succeed.

Lucilda studied at the Inns of Court School of Law and graduated from UCL London University in 1992.   She is a former lawyer,  who created her own legal niche company, working as an intermediary in accordance with the Bar Council’s direct public access to barristers scheme.  Her interest in wine, began many years earlier from casual tastings, training culminated in a Department of International Trade visit to Rioja Spain where she commenced discussions with wineries and honing her skills in wine exporting.

In 2014, Lucilda developed her own private label wine brand, working and investing in award winning wineries in Argentina and Spain.  Her dedication over the last 10 years, has led to award-winning varietals for B2B exports.
